Henry. Hank Aaron was born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1934 and is regarded as one of the greatest hitters of all time. He secured his place in baseball history by surpassing Bay Bruce home run record in 1974 and in 1982 was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. One of seven Children, Henry spent afternoons hitting bottle caps with sticks in his term Linville, Alabama, neighborhood at age 14. He set his sights on the major leagues at the hearing, the speech by his baseball hero, Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play in the majors.
