Thes technical achievements were all from the master innovator Garrett Brown. He began working on the Steadicam camera stabilizer in the early 19 seventies. His biggest motivation was to replace massive camera dollies that were difficult to operate and even more difficult to assemble and tear down. The goal was to use gyro stabilization technology to make the camera appear to be weightless. It quickly became an important cinematic tool for top blockbuster movies like Rocky and Return of the Jedi. Hoover Dam was nearing completion. Workers finished the spillways, its height reach 726 feet. It became obvious that the dam was more than just a six million ton chunk of concrete. There was an elegance to it. Much planning went into the sleek Art Deco design from the visitor area, with its elegant elevator doors to the aluminum hand railings. By the summer of 1935 workers of Hoover Dam accomplished something amazing completion of concrete pouring two years ahead of schedule,
