Challenges of a first time mother for most women, the idea of giving birth is very exciting. It is always a learning experience no matter how prepared you may be. However, it is not all rosy and these are the few challenges mothers go through. Number one is sleep deprivation. After I gave birth to my son, I wished I could sleep but I couldn't. This was mainly because I was afraid if I sleep, I might roll and sleep on, on my battle of joy. He looked so tiny or rather, he was tiny at only 2.8 kgs. Sleep loss can lead to much that can lead to depression after going home. It becomes hard because the baby wants to stay awake. Most of the time. Number two is breastfeeding as natural as it may seem. Breastfeeding is not always easy. It has its own challenges. Most mothers have no milk for the first few hours of delivery. This can be emotionally draining for the mother. If the baby is crying, the best advice is to continue nursing the baby until milk comes out, the mother is advised to take hot fluids, avoid stress and be comfortable with the collect latching of the baby to the breast. Eventually the milk will come out. Most of the time the nipples are sore and it's very painful. The doctor advises to continue breastfeeding to avoid breast encouragement. Thank you.
