I did not ask for this to stand here on this hill alone, as the mist of uncertainty flotsam below me across the still waters of the abyss, I did not want this to fill the shiver flow through me. There's a dampness, ascends from the blanket of cloud like smoke and wraps around my ankles, coaxing me down. I did not expect this watching life unfold underneath the brightness of the sun, feeling a beautiful sense of belonging to something wonderful, yet so detached from it. Did I deserve this? I don't remember much past the hand that tried to push me back. Was I standing too close to the edge? A pain in my chest aches, as if something is tearing itself from me, eager to join the wisps of smoke dancing around my body. Well, I missed this. The feeling of belonging to a daybreak to the moistness on my cheek, from the first droplets of rain to the melodic sound of a child's laughter hugging my heart. Just one last view of this standing on the hill, watching life unfold his mind stand still. Time to go now
