What do I dio? It's all about confidence. Really. If you act like you belong, who's gonna question you? When you think of hackers? I'm sure you picture the guy in the hoodie hiding behind his computer, But the hacker you really need to be on the lookout for is me. My method of choice is social engineering. Instead of forcing my way onto a system or device, I use human interaction to target employees who have access to what I want. It's easy, really. I just act like I belong, gain your confidence and trick you into giving me information. You might think that you won't fall for it, but I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve. You wouldn't let a stranger into the office, but when I'm dressed to work at your office and had my hands full of coffee, you'll happily hold the door open to let me in and forget to ask about my badge. I might accidentally leave USB devices lying around. I know what you'll dio put it in your computer. What you don't realize is that I have hidden malware on the device. Phishing emails to get log in. Details are always a favorite, so her phone calls where I pretend to be someone you work with or someone needing help. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I might see what you post on social media, use basic information from the company website and even join you at the bar after work and listen in to your conversations with your colleagues or look over your shoulder and see what you're working on. There's no limit to what I might use. It's like I'm building a puzzle. I use my tricks over and over again until I've pieced together enough information for the big payday, your company's data and information. I'm so good at what I dio that most of the time you won't even realize what happened until it's too late.
