Our current legal systems are designed to protect all human rights to life, liberty and property. Many legal systems have even granted similar rights to corporations. Yet no such rights have been granted to the very planet and the natural systems that people end. Corporations depend on for survival that people and corporations depend upon for survival. Instead, the legal systems of the world have cobbled together a patchwork of laws that gives citizens the right to sue for eco system damages or abuse, but only under pre defined and very restricted circumstances. The abuse must be proven and liabilities must be decided. This process can take years to resolve. In the meantime, the eco system can be dying right under our legal noses.
