My name is Randy, and I am the pharmacy director at a suburban hospital that's part of a 20 hospital system and larger i. D n. We're a nonprofit teaching hospital with 500 beds, 40 I see use. And there are several hospital systems in our general area competing for urban, suburban and rural patients. My goals are to provide high levels of regulatory complaints, zero preventable home patient safety throughout the entire medication use process and maintaining my budget for medication, acquisitions and staffing expenditures. Ultimately, my primary motivation is caring for our patients in the most effective and efficient ways to assist in the opportunity for the best possible patient outcomes. When evaluating new technologies, I always think of it in terms of efficiency. Can we reduce the steps that the pharmacist goes through in order to make more time to focus on the clinical aspects of patient care? New technologies should hopefully reduce the amount of time it takes for routine tasks, thus making it easier for everyone involved and adding effectiveness for overall operations. I look at new technologies to improve patient safety, work flow efficiencies and healthcare outcomes
