does the fact that Jesus himself faced Brokenness in the world give you any comfort as you face your own moments of Brokenness? About 10 years ago, there was a popular song written by Scott Crow Pain called What Breaks Your Heart? It included the phrase Sometimes you weep with us in the things that we go through, suggesting God's tenderness toward us when we're brokenhearted. The song reminds us of the Scripture passage in some 34 17 through 19 it says When the righteous Cry for Help, the Lord here's and delivers them out of all of their troubles. The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. One of the reasons God is able to understand our Brokenness so intimately is because he experiences it himself. When Jesus walked the earth, he went through extreme Brokenness, not only on the cross but in many of his daily interactions with people. Ultimately, he was despised and even rejected. He longed for people to accept him as their Saviour and messiah, yet they mocked him and even ultimately crucified him. How does Jesus human experiences assure you that he is near to you when you are broken hearted and does knowing that his compassion for you was made perfect through suffering help give you any hope in your Brokenness? Let's pray together, Mighty God, Thank you for being near me when my heart is broken and when I feel crushed in my spirit Lord, it's so comforting to know that you understand exactly the things that I'm going through. I ask that you help me to know your comfort and your compassion today that I might sense your presence and draw strength from you. I praise you for defending me and for upholding me with your righteous right hand in Jesus precious name. I pray Amen. Now remain here for a moment longer and consider the ways in which God is near to you. When you're brokenhearted and crushed in spirit, how can you use that comfort to comfort others? There may be times even today, that your face with a trial when this happens, just remember to go to your first line of defense Jesus himself. Ask him to come for you to encourage you and to give you strength as you meditate and abide in him.
