Let's take a moment and talk about time management. Although all of us lead very busy schedules, we still need to be aware that papers and assignments are due on their specific due dates. Therefore, any assignment, discussion or paper posted later than two weeks will not receive consideration for great unless you, the student has prior approval by, well, me, the professor. Now we all realize that, well, life happens. Since this course is virtual and dependent on technology, there is a real possibility that technology will fill you without anybody else's help. Here's an example. Recently a local construction company accidentally cut the fiber optic cable in my neighborhood and drop my Internet connection like a rock. Now, while it took almost four days for the repairs to be implemented, I was required to take my laptop to the local McDonalds and well worked from there. Now this actually turned out to be a pretty good I idea of mine, since they have really nice breakfast and free WiFi and several big screens showing the local sports channels. So an option in case your system has problems, is to consider the local McDonald's Starbucks or library to get those assignments done on time. Now most libraries have Microsoft office installed and the version of office will. Very so the biggest challenge will be the time spent at the library and not at home, and that the library have after sometimes wait to get a seat at the computer. And there could be a cost of printing out papers. Or you're Simon's, if necessary. So think about that. Here's a suggestion. Bring a flash drive to the library and just save your work on the flash drive and then print it out when you get home. Now let's look assignment deadlines. The biggest advice I give all my students is to turn all assignments in on time. That way, theater all the points possible. The best part about a virtual classroom like this one is it's portability. The worst part is that all responsibility for the assignments well, it falls right on your shoulders. So here are some suggestions to succeed in this class. Now, if you're going to be out of town for an extended period of time, let's say 24 hours purchase, rent, borrow or steal a laptop so your silence can be completed on time now. Luckily, most hotels I've stated have a business center, where with a computer and Internet and the access is available, including in the room now. Also don't plan vacations or trips where there isn't an Internet connection, and this includes my mother in law's house. Because she still has dial appear well, make multiple backups of your files and take them with you. Also, keep your instructor informs so in absence is not perceived as course abandonment. Another one. Treat this virtual classroom like a physical classroom. As always, there are considerations outside of our control. Vacations do not count as an excuse. Absence, by the way, and all of these situations will be considered on a case by case basis. So reasons that are unacceptable absence military deployment, including FT. Exes, field training exercises and TV wise thes air. Always an exception. Hospitalization of you, a child or parent. That's an exception. Family emergency or death in the family off course. We make an exception for that, and then there are acts of nature wildfires, earthquakes or teenagers of any age or gender. Now anything else needs to be determined by the instructor, so you need to send me an email on that. On the flip side, here are some reasons that are unacceptable. Absences. My favorite, your sisters. Brothers first cousins can't died. And you just have to go to the funeral or a vacation or trip that was planned. That didn't include consideration for your virtual class. Now, all these virtual classes, they go by pretty fast so Mr Simon's can pile up and become, well, overwhelming. Another thing is, well, my computer doesn't have Microsoft Officer Microsoft Word. Well, that's your responsibility, because Microsoft Office is the default application for all assignments in this class. And that would include word, excel or PowerPoint. So take that in consideration and we'll see you next time for another update. Bye bye.
