The bloodline is popular in South Africa and Harold Buffalo I, used by many top readers of exotic wildlife to breed spectacular animals. For decades, this herd was successfully built up to breed trophy bulls and cows in order to make available for the use ofthe breeding programmes across the country. Initially, the herd was closed for several years to give them the time to breed some of the best buffaloes money can buy. During the first private auction held by the Herald Brothers in 2008 South African records were broken. A buffalo by the name of Hercules was bought by Tim Barney Wildlife for 1.6 million rand on the same auction Jack Melon ball taboo for 1.1 million rand. Their sales also smashed records.
