for the rest of the morning. I get to work on the block posts for next week, reading similar posts on other websites and reading other lists by lunchtime. I've jotted down several ideas for the week. Happy with my work for the morning. I head to the break room for some fresh coffee. Oh, hello. Kaden surprises me when I walk in. He's the only one here, and he's sitting at a small table against the wall. He's hunched over his lunch and scrolling through his phone. He looks up from his yogurt cup. Hi, I walk over to the coffee pot. Empty. I pull out the filter and get a new brew ready. How do you like working at the magazine so far? I asked over my shoulder. It's not bad. Everyone seems nice. He pauses, then adds, Well, for the most part, I smile. Susan doesn't like it when people are late, and I tend to have an issue with being punctual, he grins. I've noticed, Yeah, I feel the filter with water and wait for it to start dripping. Are you busy later tonight or even this weekend? He asks. I would like to take you to dinner or lunch or something. Is he serious, or is this his way of prepping for a New Year's Eve date, so I'd be more likely to kiss him when the ball drops. Either way, I have the perfect excuse. Oh, no, I'm sorry. I say I'm going home for Christmas. I leave Saturday morning, the coffee finally starts to drip. Besides, I'm not really interested in seeing anyone right now. I appreciate it, though, If I can work on being on time. I think there's a real shot of me taking Susan's job when she retires in two years. Janet loves me, and Susan likes my work. Plus, my articles have a tendency of going viral. I just need to keep my head down and work hard. Until then, I just thought we could talk about those articles Susan assigned us to do together, he says. I blushed and turned back to the coffee. Oh, so much for that New Year's Eve theory. I already have a few ideas. I thought we could figure out how we want to work on them. I gather a new cup and other additives waiting for the drip to stop right. Um Well, like I said, I'm going out of town this weekend. Oh, he scoops out the last of his yogurt, tossing it aside without the annoying scraping. Don't worry about it. I tell him I can handle the articles. I'm not really a fan of co writing anyway. He squirms a little in his seat. It's just that Susan wants us both toe have bylines, and I'd rather not put my name on something I didn't right. Finally, the coffee is ready and I feel a cup with the fresh brew. We'll figure it out. Just enjoy your Christmas. It was nice seeing you. I step out before I can put my foot in my mouth again. Thinking he was asking me out on a date when he just meant to work has to be one of the most embarrassing things toe happen to me lately. Rial smooth Charlotte rial smooth
