Devon was shaken awake. When he opened his eyes, he saw a man with a scar running from his left temple to the base of his chin. In a crazies exact pattern, Devon noticed the man had short, curly brown hair. This is my suspect. He thought the man was pale like he had never been in the sun. Devon didn't doubt that was the case. Due to the perpetual pollution levels over the past 20 years, Milford had turned into a real sewer, the man with the gun around wildly. He kept playing with the hammer and trigger, which put Devon on edge. The man had a wild eyed look. Devin was trying to figure out where he was. Judging from the rocking motion of the room, he thought he might be on a boat. Who are you here for? Said the man. No one in particular, just patrolling. Devon said the man seemed to become unglued. He fidget about like a hamster that had gotten it's Cade shaking one too many times. You're a liar, Maggie said. You shot her boys. The man was twitching uncontrollably as he spoke. What do you say to that? Devon said. Nothing he didn't want to antagonize the man any further. The man hit him in the head. Devon curled up, trying to protect himself. He heard the man cackle. Just kidding. Bro, a kid approximately 10 years old, appeared. Hey, Johnny! Selina wants her bounty for this one. The kids said Yes, Jonas, tell your little sister that Papa will deliver in due time. Johnny said, Don't be late or Papa will be really mad, Jonas said as he left, Johnny didn't respond. Devon was trying to get a read on the situation. Where was he? He tried opening his eyes, but, well, Miss Swollen shut. His face felt warm, and it pulsed like someone had used it to tenderize a steak on your feet. Pilgrim John, he said. Johnny grab Devon violently by his collar, dragged him across the room and sat him in a chair. Devon tried to resist, but his body wouldn't respond to his commands. Was I drugged? Devon thought. You may be wondering why you can't move, let alone fight back, Johnny said menacingly. Devon tried to speak, but only gibberish emanated from him. I gave you some vice. In case you don't know, causes temporary paralysis so you won't be able to move. Talker. Take a dump unless I allow it. When the time is right, I will get some answers out of you. But for now, just enjoy yourself. Devon's vision was starting to return. He scanned the room. Wallpaper peeling in several places, especially around the windows, flapped in the breeze, the source of which Devin couldn't seem to place since the windows appeared to be closed. The floor, made up of several wood planks, was broken and cracked in several places. A dirty couch was on the other side of the room. Johnny was sitting on it, staring at Devon, just like a predator would examine its next meal. The door to the small room was flung open. A large man entered with a petite, skinny girl with no shoes. Devon recognize them from the tenement. It was the girl who had stabbed and drugged him. Welcome, Big Papa. I see you brought Selina with you, Johnny said. North talk. Where's money? Big Papa said Big Papa narrowed the distance between himself and Johnny. Johnny reflexively held an arm out. Easy, Big guy. I was about to send the carrier over with your bounty. Big Papa wasn't deterred. He towered over Johnny Big Papa must be at least seven feet tall. Devin thought Selena walked around Johnny as if looking for weak spots. She thrust a hand out inches from his face. Hey, Selina, said Coin founders or vice? Johnny asked. Devon thought it was interesting that Johnny had offered several payment options. Coin was making a comeback in the United States because it was based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. In recent years, various factions across the country melted down the existing currencies and re forge them in their creators image. It was not uncommon to see coins featuring the leaders of such factions. The Tri City area of Milford, Newport and Haven was ruled by Maxwell Dunbarton, and he was no exception. Dunbarton had gold, silver, platinum and even copper coins made with his face on them. Founders, former U. S. Paper based dollars were also accepted in the region.
