Welcome to a view on access, which is your intricate spotlight on some of the best new entertainment and venues. Offer Annette from inaccessible perspective to celebrate the opening of the West End's much anticipated new DreamWorks musical, The Prince of Egypt, and to promote the forthcoming audience. Describe performance on Thursday, the 21st of May 2020. This time round I showcases exciting new musical and talk about the venue. The premise. The visual spectacle on offer an overview of what to expect. The Prince of Egypt, which is on at the Dominion Theatre port of the Netherlands Group next to Tottenham Court. Road Tube Station is based on the 1998 animated movie, which is an adaptation of the Book of Exodus. On follows the life of Moses from being a Prince of Egypt to his destiny of delivering the Children of Israel out of Egypt. Songs from the film were written by award winning composer and wicked strides. Steven Swartz, who's gone on to write 10 brand new songs alongside a book by Philip Glass, Zbynek and has been instrumental in bringing this classic Storey to the stage since 2015. Even his own son, Scott Swartz, is on borders. Director workshop performances took place in California in 2017 with its international premiere in Denmark in 2018. It was clear from the moment I took my seat in the 2069 seater auditorium that this is a show of scale and ambition. A gigantic stage space is open to us. Huge marble style circular platform crater is raised off the floor against a similar effect on the back wall, which doubles his projection screen, which displays a multiple array of images throughout depicting locations, moods and emotions. The large cast of 30 plus performers adds an air quality and contributes toward creating crowd scenes and doubling the set pieces. For example, a group of the ensemble stand in a row to create a war on the Voice of God is conveyed. Using the ensemble is chorus. Projections also philtre out into the auditorium with grey like curtains made up of hundreds of thin strands of special material on which images like Egyptian statues are relate, resulting in a very realistic effect. The direction and choreography helped to solve some of the visualisation challenges generation demands and therefore may be confusing for those officially impaired without an audio description, touch store or, at best, a friend or family member whispering in your ear. The show itself is a musical extravaganza full of catchy, toe tapping songs, energetic movement, dance and stunning set pieces, the standouts all the deliverers sequence featuring the slaves made to work and build by palace guards As the show opens and the moving When you Believe song towards the end, a lot of recent reviews have been less than favourable, criticising, casting choices, overwhelming direction and floored storytelling. But the score, songbook and orchestrations are It's saving grace as they produce an emotional connexion that made the nerves down my spine tingle. I think this is gonna be one of those musicals this year that will defy the critics as the reaction from the capacity felt audience at the end was one of satisfaction and adulation. The Dominion Theatre are committed to making theatre equal for all on their customer service team, were warm and welcoming, and we'll support you join your visit whether it be help to guide you where you need to go water for a guide dog or the purchase of refreshments and merchandise.
