A man by the name of Orson Welles performed an adaption of the HD Wells is 18 98 novel War of the Worlds and performed it live on the Mercury Theater radio broadcast. It is best known for causing real life mass hysteria as listeners tuning into the broadcast failed to realize it was all fictitious. What you are about to hear in its entirety is the actual broadcast that caused so much panic that it had people calling the Los Angeles radio station and emergency dispatch units to find out more information on the alien invaders. It is my honor to present to you straight from the L A affiliated CBS station on a Halloween Eve, 1938 War of the Worlds, Adapted by Howard Koch. Narrated and directed by Orson Welles.
