Troy There Godowsky with the 1909 World Series history. The Pirates won their seventh NL championship in 1909 behind the brilliant play of veteran superstar Honus Wagner. Wagner hit 3 39 for the Pirates, and Pittsburgh pitching staff was just a dangerous how a candidate's Willis 1 25 and 22 games, respectively, and left Ely Field posted 19 victories. Detroit returned for the third consecutive Fall Classic, determined to ease the memories of their previous efforts. The Tigers were also backed up by the heavy bat of Ty Cobb and a formidable pitching staff featuring Mullen, Will it and Summers, who had combined for 70 victories. None of this matter, though, is the Pirates. Big three were unable to win a single game in the series and only one Detroit stand out. That being Mullen performed as predicted by chalking up two victories. The Tigers. Amanda's downplay the Pirates veteran starter, but they couldn't handle newcomer Babe Adams, who had compiled a 12 and three record for the Pirates that season. Adams drew the start for Game one and responded with a six hitter, a 41 victory that was sparked by playing manager Fred Clarke game tying home run in the fourth inning. Once again, Detroit lost the lead and the game. Game two was tipped in favour of Detroit with a three run out first in the third inning and that was ignited by the spectacular home plate stealing of Cobb. The Tigers had managed to square the series at one game of Peas, and we're looking for much more. Pittsburgh regained the lead in Game three when they jumped on the back of Wagner, who had three hits and three r b i, and he also stole three bases and they rallied to an 86 victory. The wind swapping continued when Tiger ace George Mullin actually lived up to his reputation and through a five hit shutout while striking out 10 Pirates in game number four. Once again Detroit, it tied it up but were unable to repeat as Babe Adams through another six into resulting in an 84 Game five win. The Tigers found themselves back in business the next afternoon when Mullen, after being roughed up for three first inning runs, surrendered only one more and wound up with a seven hit Game six winner with the Siri's going down to a climatic seventh game. Pittsburgh spread. Clark went to two game winner Babe Adams as his picture, while Detroit manager Hugh Jennings decided on Bill Donovan a complete game winner. Game to Donovan was off to a miserable start as he hit the first pirate batter and went on to walk six of them in the 1st 2 innings. He was pulled after three with Adam's confidently holding a two to nothing lead. But Pittsburgh never looked back as the Buccos baby nailed his 3rd 6 hitter of the Siri's and then ate nothing championship victory. It was the Pirates third postseason appearance, second official, Siri's and first world championship. Wagner continued to prove his Cooper's town worthiness by hitting 3 33 with seven r b I and six stolen bases Playing. Manager Fred Clarke set a record with four walks in Game four. On the other side, future Hall of Famer Ty Cobb did not fare as well, appearing in what would be his last. Siri's has got batted just to 31 but deadly Detroit with six r b I's with the 1909 World Series history. I'm Troy, Darren Kowske,
