It's America's music. It's an improvised art making itself up as it goes along. It rewards individual expression but demands selfless collaboration. It is forever changing, but nearly always rooted in the blues. It has a rich tradition of its own rules, but it's brand new. Every night. Count Dracula had directed me to go to the Golden Crown Hotel, which I found to my great delight to be thoroughly old fashioned for. Of course, I wanted to see all I could of the ways of the country I was evidently expected for. When I got near the door, I faced a cheery looking elderly woman in the usual peasant dress, white undergarment with long, double apron, front and back of colored stuff fitting almost too tight from modesty. The year was 1967 and the astronauts of Apollo 16 were going to the moon. This is Charles Duke lunar module pilot on Apollo 16. This amazing little capsule went by the call sign Casper, and it was the heart of an immense system of rocket engineering. They got the astronauts safely to the moon and back. At first I couldn't understand why the media was making such a big deal of the billionaires death. After all, the people of Planet Earth had other concerns. The ongoing energy crisis, catastrophic climate change, widespread famine, poverty and disease have a dozen wars. You know, dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria. Normally, the news feeds didn't interrupt everyone's interactive sitcoms and soap operas unless something really major had happened, like the outbreak of some new killer virus or another major city vanishing in a mushroom cloud. Fix stuff like that. And on the pedestal, these words appear. My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look at my works, ye mighty and despair. Nothing beside remains round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare lone and level sands stretch far away.
