Job Description

A narrative reading needed for a short documentary about the life and travels of William Bartram, America’s first native-born naturalist. The video will be hosted on the St. Johns County (FL) website and used in education materials for schools.

Audience: This is a public outreach project.

Artistic direction: Historical documentary. We're looking for a male voice with a neutral accent/no dialect. The tone of voice should be upbeat, approachable, and knowledgeable – ideally we’d like it to convey the sense of adventure inherent in William Bartram’s travels through the American wilderness in the late 18th century.

NOTE: There will be several instances in the final script where William Bartram and his contemporaries’ quotes are used directly. We’d like the voice artist to slightly modify the tone/pace of the narration for these quotes. We’ll leave the precise difference in inflection to the speaker but we are looking for something subtle, just enough to for the audience to know that there is a difference. No different accents or drastic changes are wanted.
