Job Description

Hello,

I am producing a short children's animated film and am in need of voice actors that can confidently pull off a MILD CHINESE ACCENT. It's an English language film and about 6 minutes.

LOCATION: I need Toronto or Vancouver talent, ideally, but would consider anyone who can pull off the part.

DATES: Looking to record first week of May

MOOD: It's an animated film, but the tone is a bit dramatic at times. Think of it as a regular movie.

Here are the characters, some script excerpts and a bit of direction.

ANIU - an 8 year old boy (could be played by a woman with a high voice). Sweet sounding voice, Chinese accent.

(excited)

Wow! The Monkey King! And he’s got his magic gold staff! Grandma! Grandma! Look, look, the Monkey King! (pointing at the toy)

(with sincerity and a wisdom beyond his years)
I'm 8 years old today. My teacher says I'm a little man now, so, I've got to start taking care of my grandma.Grandma's eyes aren't very good, but that day she used your glasses she could see things like small letters again.

GRANDMOTHER - an elderly sounding woman, Chinese accent.

(remorseful)
Aniu, (pronounced AH_NEW) I went to Mr. Liji's. The Monkey King - someone else bought him today. I'm sorry. I promise to buy another one soon.

(tenderly)
Aniu, sweetheart, your birthday is next month. I'll buy it for you then.

MR. LEE
- Middle aged male store owner, friendly gruff voice.

(cordial and warm) Good Afternoon. Please come in. What can I do for you?

(visible moved by the boy’s act of selflessness, maybe choking up a bit) Aniu (pronounced AH_NEW), you're really a good boy. You know that? Wait here a second while I wrap them up for you.

NARRATOR - Mature, wise male of female voice. I'd like to hear it with a Chinese and brit accent.

The townspeople of Longchen lead simple lives and have only the necessities, but they love their home and their lives, for the people are rich with warm spirits and humanity. One of Longchen’s citizens has opened a new shop: Mr. Lee's General Store.
