Job Description

Need a strong, conversational, storytelling voice for a video to be shown by DVD and the Web to literacy volunteers.

Narration #1
Today in the United States and Canada children and youth are struggling with their school work.
They are struggling with reading…
Learning math skills always poses a problem…
When students fail to master basic academic skills and cannot effectively participate in the learning process… many of them simply drop out of school… some emotionally… some physically.

Narration #2
Our neighbors are in need. Helping these young neighbors master reading and math skills… is an effective way to demonstrate and share the love of Jesus Christ. The North American Mission Board is celebrating 50 years of Southern Baptist involvement in training and equipping volunteers in local churches to tutor children and youth as an evangelistic outreach.
Most tutoring ministries meet one day a week for an hour or more. This is one of the forms of a ministry we call “Literacy Missions”.

Narration #3
Belinda Harris is an experienced public school teacher and longtime literacy missions volunteer in Atlanta, Georgia.

Narration #4
For more information on a basic literacy missions workshop to learn how to begin a church-based tutoring ministry or strengthen an existing tutoring ministry… contact the person in your state convention responsible for literacy missions or ministry evangelism… or contact the North American Mission Board.
