Since 2003, Xerox has invested in a company-wide Lean Six Sigma initiative. Selected Xerox employees, trained as black belt and green belt specialists, lead teams of Xerox people to dramatically improve business processes.

In Rochester, New York, the Red Cross wanted to reach more of the community with health and safety training. But the organization’s sales consultants were spending too much time on administrative details and not enough time with customers.

So the team developed a new sales process—with impressive results. A stunning 59% reduction in steps means more time with customers.

More than a third of Xerox people contribute personal time. They teach literacy and cook in soup kitchens, volunteer at Special Olympics, provide job training for the unemployed and participate in literally thousands of other community projects.

But as a large, successful corporation, Xerox has both the ability—and the responsibility—to do more.

In all, Xerox donated $15 million dollars to charitable causes in 2005.
