Job Description

This job should be a fun one! We need a voice for a time machine character that will play at a conference for an insurance company.

Two of the executives will be on-stage and will interact with this time machine that takes them through the decades and references what was happening with the company at certain times in history, and what was happening with the rest of the world at that same time.

The time machine character segments will play back on video during the presentation. The character needs to deliver the lines about the certain time periods with a more announcement/authoritative style, but there are also times when it is conversational with the people on-stage and it is sort of sarcastic and goofy. For example when it talks about the 80's it uses some slang from that time.

We haven't decided if we want this to sound completely human, kind of like a HAL from 2001 or if we want to mechanize the sound a bit to be more like a machine.

So have fun with this audition and feel free to explore some possibilities. We have the ability to add the effects here but by all means, if you want to play around with some editing, go for it! We're open to suggestion at this point.

The client will be reviewing the submissions, so if you can try to give us a range of announcer voice to more conversational (but still a little know-it-all. After all, you're a computer, so you should know a lot!) that would be helpful.

The word count on the script is about 390. I've attached the script with all the other lines taken out except for the time machine so you can get an idea of the kind of stuff you'll be talking about. A good sample read might be the first segment:

"In Scottsdale, At This Minute: Scottsdale Insurance Company is kicking of its annual Underwriting Conference, hailed by many as the best of its kind in the E&S industry.

In The World, At This Minute: (The screen flickers, but comes up blank). Well… does anyone really care? I mean, you got something better to do? You’re at the Scottsdale Insurance Company 2010 Underwriting Conference for crying out loud! What else can stack up to three days of insurance and fun in the Scottsdale sun? Am I right? Of course I am!"
