Word count: 265

Intro Script:

The VA is counting on you!

As an employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs, it is your responsibility to help prepare your facility for an emergency or disaster of any type. Granted, you might not be part of a specific emergency or disaster team, but you are still a member of the VA team and should be prepared to help when needed.

Preparing for Emergencies and Disasters: All Hazards is designed to help you, a valued VA employee, prepare yourself for any potential emergency or disaster--whether it occurs at work or at home.

This course will show you how to:

-Prepare for an emergency or disaster.

-Create a personalized Emergency Preparation checklist.

-Respond to an emergency or disaster by applying emergency management concepts.

Summary Script:

The VA's goal in an emergency or disaster is to preserve life, property and to ensure that the facility remains operational. As an employee, you have a critical role to support this goal.

This course has provided you with the knowledge and tools to help you prepare your facility, family, and home for any potential emergency or disaster.

Completing this course, however, is just the first step. Now you need to put the information into action. Even though you probably have a very busy life, it's essential that you find the time to prepare yourself and others for any type of hazard, including naturally occurring or human-related events.

At any moment, you may be called upon to respond to a real life emergency--either at work or at home. Make sure you're prepared!

And remember, the VA is counting you.
