Job Description

Hey All. A real fun project here for the right person.

So Avaya is an IT logistics company. They look after a lot of behind-the-scenes networking like phone circuitry, data analysis, improving customer efficiency. Suffice it to say they are one of the companies which does all the background IT stuff you probably take for granted as a customer.

Anyway...

They're trying to get their customers to migrate to newer and better versions of their software although some customers remain reticent. Basically it's the "if it ain't broke" mentality for them. Avaya, through this video, is trying to encourage their customers to "evolve" using positive re-inforcement. They can't of course make their customers feel like dinosaurs because they aren't keeping up with the Joneses. In short, this video is meant to encourage the migration in the most positive ways possible by highlighting the benefits in a creative way.

We came up with this concept of Mike/Future Mike. Basically Future Mike is there to present the pertinent arguments about "evolving" to his present day self. Having the new you try to convince the old you allows us to hit the points without offending the customer by presenting them with a lecture. Future Mike has evolved and is here to convince Mike to expedite the process.

Future Mike has it made. He's made the move and life couldn't be happier. He took the plunge. Now he's here to urge Mike to actually make the move showing him the benefits of doing so. Think of a younger person trying to convince his dad to try the internet. Persuasive but respectful. Present Day Mike should never be made to feel like an idiot or that he's behind the times. It's always an encouraging message.

We need a young to middle aged adult male voice. Mike is portrayed as being 30-40, experienced but with room to learn. He is not a newbie and knows his stuff. Mike is also intelligent but a little behind the times. He knows he needs to adapt but is a little resistant to it. he needs convincing.

Future Mike. He also is a bit aloof. Fun, because his life is so much better after the move which is why he uses "man" and "Mikey" and "friend" when talking to Mike. He's achieved "the good life."

Feel free to play with the language a little but make sure to hit the key points. This video will be in a cutout animation style so your voice needs to help carry the story. People should like listening to it. In effect it should have the fun and appeal of great radio ad.

Finally, for inspiration, try Googling the old Mac vs. PC ads with John Hodgman. While those are two are different characters, the fun and rapport and humorous style is pretty much what we're after here as well.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing your responses.
