Job Description

We're looking for a bright, clear, friendly, dynamic voice for our new video game character, Fu.

Who is Fu?
Fu is a male cartoon creature (3D images in the attached PDF) who guides our users to becoming more physically active. He previously led a sedentary life devoid of fun and activity, but one day he decided to change things and dedicate himself to the ways of "fu" - the art of feeling good through perseverance, progress and friendliness.

Fu is friendly, confident, fallible, modest, funny and yet authoritative. Like Yoda or a great Kung Fu master, he only occasionally reveals his awesome skills.

Our audience
Our typical user is female, hard-working, 18-35 and from the US and UK.

The voice
We're looking for either a North American voice, or, alternatively, a hard-to-pinpoint international voice. The voice must be:

1/ Energetic and natural - you must BE the character.
2/ Playful but not irritating.
3/ Dynamic - Fu switches from his own voice to Arnie to a Sargent to a "camp" style guru instantly.
4/ Clear and articulate - some of the things Fu says may be complex or very quick.

We'd love to hear from people of all ethnicities (please!), but don't ham up the apparent orientalisms; imagine how bad Star Wars would be if Yoda had a fake Chinese accent.

Audition Material (250 word draft script plus some ad-lib)
The attached PDF explains the two sample performances we'd like you to do. All the details are contained in the doc itself.

Delivery (Final 1,000 word script)
The voice will be chosen on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

The final reading is 1,000 words long - mostly short phrases.

We will need the recording delivered within 3 days of notifying the winning candidate. Budget includes high quality recording to a single file - we will post-process internally.

We are a tiny company so there can be no hidden costs; the cost below must cover a perpetual international license to the recording with no on-going royalties. We do hope to hire the actor again, though... OFTEN! :)

Many thanks for for reading! :)

Note from It is recommended that you protect all your audition work by watermarking the submission or only recording a portion of the script provided by the client. This will render your audition file useless for anything other than reviewing your voice. Not sure what watermarking is? Please visit our FAQ section for more information.
