Job Description

Let me state outright that I have little or no idea what I'm getting into, here. Audio books have become big business, so I want my novels in that format .
"The Big Bend" is a murder mystery set in Florida. The MS is 104,000 words. The novel was first published November of last year. The second novel is ready to go to the publisher this month and I am currently working on a third.
The MS is written in first person, rather as a journal would be. It is fast-paced, humorous and hard hitting. Action takes place in Orlando, Tampa, the Everglades and aboard boats along the west coast of Florida.
The reader must have a light, easy to understand southern or Texan accent. The narrator of the story, Terry Rankin, is a former captain in the MP's and a former investigator for the Pennsylvania State Police who runs a protective service in Florida providing bodybguards to corporations and wealthy individuals who are "at risk" of kidnap or assault. He has a wry, self-deprecating sense of humor. Please read some of the manuscript to determine if you have the 'voice' I need. There are at least two more novels following this one, and the second is going to press this month. Once I settle on someone for this first novel, there will be work on the other two down the road.
Unfortunately for both of us, I have no idea what my costs will be on top of paying for the 'Voice', and like most writers I am very, very far from wealthy...I am willing to negotiate points on sales, if that makes up for the low up-front price I can afford.

Note from It is recommended that you protect all your audition work by watermarking the submission or only recording a portion of the script provided by the client. This will render your audition file useless for anything other than reviewing your voice. Not sure what watermarking is? Please visit our FAQ section for more information.
