Job Description

As part of a new exhibit on immigrants' stories, the Washington State History Museum is featuring a number of first-person historical accounts taken from memoirs, journal entries, and oral histories. This is an excerpt from the journal of a young woman named Ruby, describing her family's history and how she ended up in the US.

Because this will be played as part of a set along with other oral histories and interview footage, the reading should be natural and understated, not overly dramatic or theatrical. Playback will be accompanied by a photo of Ruby.

Ruby was educated in the US and spoke American English fluently, but a detectable Hong Kong accent is preferred.
