Job Description

Islamic Legacy builds audio documentaries on historical topics of significance to an English-speaking audience of Muslims around the world. We are a not-for-profit venture that runs on donations and proceeds from public lecture presentations where these audio documentaries are sold to a captive audience. Islamic Legacy previously produced “The Conquest of Constantinople” and The Crusades through Muslim Eyes".

Islamic Legacy has already engaged a professional for the role of primary narrator of the new production titled “The Mongol Scourge"

Type of Voice Required
We are seeking a specialist professional to voice translations (in English) of select passages from Muslim historians like Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Athir and so forth.

The professional is expected to narrate in English but with a Middle Eastern accent and with perfect pronunciation of Islamic terms. The voice must come across to the audience as if it is spoken by a devout Muslim.

An audition script of a single page has been prepared featuring examples of the kinds of passages we expect the narrator to read.
The segments feature various emotions (tragedy, victory, reflection, caution etc.). Besides voice clarity and good elocution, we require a narrator that can transition between various emotions.

What we need
The total number of words to be read will be approximately 3500 (three thousand five hundred)

We require the original recording of the narrator (high-quality, uncompressed audio). The final documentary will be CD-quality audio but we require the original to be recorded of a higher quality.

What we have
At this stage we have a script. We will be applying sound effects to weave a soundscape around the narration.

When we need it
Approximately 2 weeks from when the narrator is selected and the final script is delivered.
