Job Description

The Voice Over will be included as part of a Case/Evidence File in an Homicide Crime Scene investigation app where players can evaluate a virtual (fictional) crime scene, its evidence, and its suspects case files to try and determine who (among the suspects) is the actual killer. The mood is gritty/pulp/serious/docu-drama.

Male/late 20s to early 30s

Alex Park, a professional musician, was found murdered (by multiple gunshots) in his apartment. Joe is a suspect in the murder case.

Joe is a recovering drug addict, recently returned from court-ordered rehab. He is having trouble making ends meet, and even more trouble staying clean, but things were finally starting to work out for him (with Alex’s help.) His record indicates that he was suspected of multiple armed robberies, always with 9mm handguns. He has been in prison before. He has a rough edge around him, and a sense of criminality, but he’s not a fundamentally bad person. Rather a victim of addiction and the possible consequences of the US penal system.

What follows is an excerpt from the recorded statement that he gave to the police when questioned following the discovery of the murder. This will be played when a player interacts with the “hear statement” button on this suspect’s rap sheet.

He’s immediately defensive, since he’s accustomed to harassment from peace officers.
This adds some substance to his character’s attempt to stay clean.
His brother really was vital to Joe, and we want to convey that to the player. The cash comment should sow some doubt about the following Life Insurance policy mention, though.
