Job Description

We are searching for a talented individual to voice an excerpt from Charles H. Cochrane's personal account of his experience coming out as the first openly gay police officer in the NYPD in 1981. This excerpt will be one of the few historical accounts included with many current and recently retired police officers sharing their experiences on the job. The actor must be able to perform as if Cochrane is recounting his story in a casual conversation, like he is being interviewed in real time rather than reading from a diary.

Charles Henry "Charlie" Cochrane, Jr. (August 5, 1943 – May 5, 2008) was an American law enforcement officer and sergeant with the New York City Police Department. Following his delivery of public testimony on anti-discrimination legislation pending before the New York City Council, Cochrane became the first openly gay officer of the NYPD. He later helped to form the Gay Officers Action League (GOAL).
