Production Analyzer – Voiceover Script

Slide 2:

The production process deals with a number of challenges!

• Which products are worth maintaining?
• How do we match product demand with production and supply chain capabilities?
• Which resources will be freed up if a product is dropped?
• How do I monitor and track capacity utilization?

A dynamic marketplace presents manufacturers with a variety of business problems. Unfortunately, many companies fall short of the mark. They are constrained by an ineffective planning process, with disconnected, departmental spreadsheets that rarely reflect overall organizational strategies.

The result! Manufacturers experience unpredictable or sub-optimal performance. They may fail to meet customer needs at a critical time, or face higher costs because of unanticipated demand or excess products in their inventory.

Slide 3:

Sonata’s Production framework provides complete visibility across the entire manufacturing operation where required, and offers a multi-level product history several layers deep into the assembly process. The main highlights of this system are its powerful scorecard and dashboard features. Using these, users access specific Key Performance Indicators and drill down through detailed information to aid them in taking appropriate action.

Slide 4:

Sonata’s Production Analyzer - The one stop solution for all your production management challenges!

Slide 5:

The Production manager has a number of reports at hand to get the complete picture.
Have a look at this! The capacity utilization has been hovering around the 80 % mark but shows a dip between July & September,

Slide 6:

The first level drill down shows capacity utilization across various plants and these highlight utilization by city. Plant Columbus has a very low utilization for the month of September whereas other plants are operating at higher capacity.

The manager can thus pinpoint the problem – with further analysis to understand why the plant has lower capacity utilization.

Slide 7, 8, 9 & 10:

Now, let us look at the Rejection Analysis which is one of the critical parameters in the production process.

The report clearly shows that the actual rejection is significantly higher than budgeted for all time periods. In order to identify the right cause, a deeper drill-down analysis is required. Clearly the report shows that the cutting process has a huge rejection ratio. The production Manager can now divert his attention to this process for corrective measures.

In order to identify and pin-point which sub-process under cutting is causing the rejection, the manager can validate average wait time between processes on the assembly line. He can then pinpoint that the painting process has the largest wait time.

A simple report like this helps the production manager compare performance across various processes.

Slide 11:

• Rejection high for Cutting process – Maintenance of machines overdue.
• Waiting period for painting process is high due to problems associated with cutting.
• Dip in overall capacity utilization due to low capacity utilization of one plant because of the seasonal impact of raw materials.

With a few more reports and drill down (pause) the Production Manager has all his answers. He now kick starts his action items to ensure that the production costs are minimized. Actionable tasks can also be assigned to the relevant resources. The course is now set for more efficient production. All these are just a few clicks away!

Each report is supported by graphs, charts, gauges, scorecards and ad-hoc reports. All this is built on the Microsoft suite of products – SQL Server 2005, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office Performance Point Server 2007.

Slide 13:
