Dozens of young singles have been successfully introduced to each other only to be wed shortly thereafter.

Hundreds of married couples have found new meaning in what it takes to have a successful marriage and are rejuvenated once again to commit to each other.

Hundreds of kids ages 5-13 have learnt to fervently chant and read the aleph bet and find excitement in all the hands -on experience of Jewish projects and trips.

Thousands of Jews are gathering to learn from some of the most celebrated speakers on Jewish family values.

Has there been a difference? We think so. But don’t ask us, let our beneficiaries answer that question.

PST Program

Tailored specifically for public high school students, the PST program (Public School Tefilla Program) invites teens to participate in daily Morning Prayer services before they start school in the mornings. HDC pays each attendee $5 per day for their half hour of participation. Newcomers are encouraged to participate by being offered a grand $10 per day. Additionally, the participants enjoy a tasty breakfast complete with coffee and doughnuts before they are driven to their school. Currently we have an average of 40-50 teens that take advantage of this program, and love it!

Teen Activities

Here we provide a variety of activities where Jewish teens can get together in a fun, educational, and appropriate atmosphere. The program starts with a video about a subject such as truth, Judaism, peer pressure, values, sex, drugs, violence, etc. and is followed by a panel discussion. After the panel discussion there is music, socializing, pizza, and refreshments. This program is bi-weekly, on every other Thursday free of charge.

Periodically, there are other events such as Shabbatons, Laser tag, bowling, ski trips, holiday parties, etc. at a nominal cost. Our intent is to prevent assimilation by empowering the kids for the teens to learn more about their own beautiful heritage in a Jewish environment, preventing assimilation.
They learn about their roots and what Judaism means to them and how to apply Judaism in today’s world and what are its implications are in the 21st Century, in a fun way.

Hebrew as a Second Language (grades 9-12)

Here’s a program where students in grades 9th through 12th have the opportunity of learning the Hebrew language (reading, writing, speaking, basics of Judaism and upcoming holidays) in a friendly atmosphere along with fully credentialed and experienced teachers . The students who complete this course will receive 10 units of credit per school year, which could be accepted towards the second language requirement in any public high school throughout Los Angeles.

After school Hebrew Program (Grades K- 7th)

The After School Hebrew Program is geared towards public school children in grades kindergarten through 7th. Taught by loving and experienced teachers, this program provides meaningful Jewish education coupled with recreational activities and trips on different levels to accommodate the needs of the students or a positive learning environment.

This free program is geared towards single men and women ages 19-35, where they learn about their roots and what Judaism means to them and how to apply it in today’s world. The program includes lectures, lots of socializing, refreshments and frequent off site events. The topics delivered by the variety of professional lecturers can range from subjects like successful dating and marriage tips to self-improvement, health, or business, etc. It is a great opportunity for the singles to meet other Jewish singles, especially at the age where people make the most important decisions in their life.

Crash course in Reading Hebrew (adults)

Learn a 5,000-year-old language in 5 easy lessons! Free. Designed for adults with little or no background, this course teaches basic Hebrew reading.

As one participant said, “After 50 years, I was able to get together with my family at the Shabbat table, and for the first time, I was able to say the Kiddush (Shabbat blessing) for my family and as I was saying the blessing, tears ran down my eyes.”

Educational seminars

Seminars and classes are offered to enhance and enrich one’s awareness of Judaism with neutral topics ranging from successful marriages, parenting, effective dating strategies, building self- esteem, etc. Always injected with authentic Jewish values, the speakers are experienced, educated and motivating.

These are just some examples of the power of Jewish education. Please join us in sustaining and enriching it.
