“Pie Experiments: Liquid”
AUDITION SCRIPT

We OPEN facing a large white wall. It is made entirely of wooden cabinets and drawers- of all different shapes and sizes, so that it feels like a giant tool chest. It has been assembled in a kind of patchwork so that it feels DIY, and not overly precious. Everything has been painted white to lend it a uniform air- so that does not distract from what’s in front of it.

Which is a counter that has been prepared for a demonstration.

A MAN stands behind the counter, staring out at us. He wears a collared, short sleeve shirt, and a slightly out of date tie.

An ANNOUNCER is heard. He speaks academically and dryly- comically so.

ANNOUNCER: Suppose you downloaded an album from the Internet to your laptop.

CLOSE UP on a large glass drink dispenser hanging in the air beside the Demonstrator. It is filled with bright orange liquid. A small label on the front of the dispenser says simply “The Internet”.

The Demonstrator reaches over, turning a spigot, and some orange liquid pours out of the dispenser, landing in a large beaker on the counter below. A label on the beaker says “Laptop”.

ANNOUNCER: Now you want to listen to it on your smart-phone.

The Demonstrator looks down the counter at another beaker, sitting empty. This one is labeled “Smartphone”.

ANNOUNCER: You need a cable to transfer it from one to the other.

The Demonstrator pulls out a clear plastic tube, placing one end in the “Laptop” beaker, and using the other to siphon liquid out into the “Smartphone” beaker. We watch as one beaker empties, and the other one fills.
WIPE TO:

The same room, set up as it was previously, with the liquid-filled dispenser hanging in the air, two empty beakers on the counter below, and the Demonstrator staring out at us again.

ANNOUNCER: Suppose you used “Pie”.
ANNOUNCER: Your music is available instantly on both devices.
ANNOUNCER: You can edit a playlist on your laptop and it changes on your smartphone
ANNOUNCER: Edit it again on your smartphone and it changes on your laptop.
ANNOUNCER: Or your tablet...
ANNOUNCER: Or your desktop.
ANNOUNCER: Because Pie makes your music available anywhere, instantly. With no cables.
