Job Description

Hello All

This VO will be for a celebrity charity golf event held in Toronto, Ontario each June hosted by Joe Carter who is baseball icon as well as a local legend (he helped bring two World Series championships to the city).

This is a star-studded event and who knows the exposure your voice work will have. There are a lot of influential people in this event both corporately and celebrity –wise. Suffice it to say this is a fabulous opportunity for more work.

We are producing three DVDs for this project; two are promotional and one is a keepsake for the participants. The first two require VO and for the most part the same VO can be used in both with some small variations as needed.

The reads are not long but obviously important to get right in tone and emotion. We don’t want pitchman, no hard sell, it’s more about a eliciting a sincere plea for people to get involved (think: charity infomercials done by celebrities). In other words tone down the sell factor but ramp up the emotional appeal within reason (no pleading). In effect we want it to come across as confident but homey. Polished enough to be professional but again no hard sell. It’s a tricky read I know.

It is open to both male and female VO and I have to admit I’m leaning towards female simply because I feel that a woman can make it sound more sincere but I’m fully open. Gentleman, feel free to make me eat my words.

This is the basic script but it will likely change somewhat and may increase up to around a third more. It’s just 200 words presently and could creep up around 300 but shouldn’t increase too dramatically past that (if at all). Please read it at comfortable deliberate pace, pausing to emphasize the key points (also so we can make cuts in the sample takes).

The companies who get involved in this event pay a lot of money and are used to certain level of quality. (Think: high end car ads; Donald Sutherland). The VO needs to have classy quality. The event exudes quality and this has to mirror that.
