Job Description

THIS JOB REQUIRES AN AUTHENTIC IRISH-BRITISH ACCENT (MUST NOT SOUND AMERICAN).

Recordings will be used as part of an exercise in which project teams from a fictitious company called "OilCo" are negotiating an environmental permit.

Participants must deal with various "issues" in the form of voicemail messages, etc., which is where you come in.

Script is as follows:

(Leaving a voicemail message...read should sound natural, not scripted):

"Yes, this is Sara Freeman calling from the Port City News. We are preparing a story for tomorrow’s edition reporting that one of your contractors at the refinery site – Port City Construction – is using non-union labor, 13- and 14-year olds. Port City’s president is closely aligned with PNOC and the government. More than a year ago, OilCo’s country manager, Brent Andrew, promised that OilCo’s presence in Petrolea would improve labor and social conditions here, and we are wondering if you see any conflict between that promise and the use of child labor on the project. The Industrial Workers Council is calling for West Land government to, quote, 'stand up to OilCo on behalf of all Petroleans,' close quote. We would like your reaction to these developments. Our publication deadline is one hour from now. If you’d like to comment, please contact me immediately."
