Job Description

VO Brief

We require a straight, non-theatrical delivery, somewhere between an internal monologue and conveying something very serious to a close confidant. Experienced, grizzled, seen a lot, maybe even a hint of psychological. It should have a hint of remorse, but gritty and determined. We think we should avoid the ‘trailer’ voice and focus more on the mature soldier direction.

The character is middle aged, with a deep, gravelly American accent. He is a mature and experienced soldier, who belives in the grim necessity of his work. The read should be reasonably flat, without ‘trailer-voice’ theatrics.

A good reference is

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2Pt-LnQ2po this is from the fallout franchise, the mix of maturity, experience and the slight hint of remorse is about right – although the character in our script shouldn’t sound sorry for what he’s saying, he thinks what he does is necessary and justified..
