Job Description

We are looking for someone to be the voice for the New York Botanical Gardens upcoming exhibit.

The voice will guide and inform the listeners about the main focus of the exhibit as well as what else is going on in the exhibition. We are trying to go after a documentary feel for the script since it is talking about the history of the flower and the what will be happening at the exhibit.

There will be approximately 5 pages of script to be recorded.

For the first time ever, one of the most spectacular floral traditions, chrysanthemums grown in the Japanese Imperial style, are on view for an American audience in the most elaborate presentation ever seen outside Japan. The New York Botanical Garden presents Kiku: The Art of the Japanese Chrysanthemum, a month-long celebration of Japanese flowers, art, and culture.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to see the exotic styles of chrysanthemums that have been developed for over 1500 years, on display in the Conservatory Courtyards. The fruits of labor result from an exclusive multi-year cultural exchange and collaboration between Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden in Tokyo, Japan, and The New York Botanical Garden. After years of hard work and patience, the story of Kiku can now unfold before enthusiastic crowds at America’s garden.

The chrysanthemum (kiku in Japanese) is revered throughout Japan, where it is meticulously cultivated and expertly trained over 12-months to grow in a variety of highly specialized forms.
