Job Description

The goal is to create an audio version of a currently published book, 37 chapters in length. The book takes a reflective look back at America's War on Terror, and does so from a Christian perspective. The book recounts a decade of Christian involvement in America's first "war" of the twenty-first century. It is a counter culture collection of essays with a heavy emphasis on the Bible and Christian pacifism.

The printed version of the book is 534 pages. This includes table of contents, index, pictures. The book is quite diverse, since it is a collection of essays, and different voices are heard in many of the chapters. Even though the total word count is 200,000 words, the plan is to have more than one voice over artist featured in the book. This makes it difficult to bid on the project, I realize. I am looking right now for the primary voice (the author's voice). This voice, however, will not be reading all 200,000 words. There are some chapters where the narrator will speak only a page or two, whereas the "guest" voice will be reading the remainder, e.g. 10-15 pages. One would have to see the book for this to make sense.

The narrator must be comfortable with the subject matter. The topic of Christian conscientious objection to war can be a sensitive topic, and for voice over artists who are veterans or who have loved ones in the military, or who are ultra-patriotic, the subject matter may prove to be objectionable. The underlying theme of the book is that Christian discipleship is at conflict with military service and patriotism.
