Job Description

We are looking for a male voice to read the script for a mock movie trailer style piece we’re doing for an internal event. We have about 100 people at a software startup getting together at an all-hands to talk about our plans for the year. We want to kick off the meeting with a little home-made movie to get the discussion flowing. It’s a take-off on the concept of the end of the world – one that stems from the technical problems that our product helps solve. It will be a bit tongue-in-cheek and a bit inspirational at the same time, to say that the problem we solve is starting to become much more important.

The attached script is the 90% complete version. We might tweak a couple words in the next day or so before we record the final.

The voice needs to sound a little hoarse, deflated, like someone who’s hung over from a rough night or who just went through a great deal of tribulation. At the same time, there is a bit of bile and mockery in the tone as well. Kind of like “how could we have been so stupid not to see the obvious…”

In the attached script, all the text in italics is intended to be voiceover to the scenes that unfold onscreen. I’m attaching the whole script to provide complete context as to the film.

I’ll need the voiceover recorded by the end of the first week in January.
