Job Description

This is a mature Chinese-American female VO for a local :30 TV commercial showing a Chinese-American grandmother about 60-years-old in her yard with her cute 5-year-old grandson, they are planting a small tree together. The VO is IN ENGLISH but it can have a subtle Chinese-American accent OR no accent, but not thickly accented, and it must sound absolutely authentic to an Asian-American audience (no faked accents please), that's why this is posted as a bi-lingual listing.

This is not announcing or narration, it is the character speaking her own thoughts to herself, so the job requires acting rather than announcing.

In the commercial the grandmother watches and helps her 5-year-old grandson plant the tree, he’s very cute and she watches him with deep affection.

The quality is warm, caring, honest, real, soulful, reflective, gently bemused at times. A woman reflecting on her connection to her grandson, and at peace with the cycle of life. It should sound real and adult, like a mature woman reflecting to herself, it should not sound like a children's story.

SCRIPT: One day, this tree will be tall and magnificent, just like I know you'll be.
And when you sit under its shade, you may remember the day you helped me plant it.
It will be as much your legacy as it is mine.
And that makes me happy.

Thank you very much for your audition!
