Job Description

We are an educational publisher and this is part of a revision resource for schools. There are 17,279 words to be recorded.

It requires you to supply two people (one male and one female) with British neutral accents. Readers should be clear and relatively neutral i.e. without strong accents.

One person will speak the questions, and the other person will speak the answer. At set points the two speakers will alternate.

To be clear, we are seeking one person to pay for the 17,279 words recorded – it will be their responsibility to source the other speaker. Both costs should be factored into the price (we did exactly the same on our last two Voices.com projects and it worked well – one used a spouse and the other a friend).

Technical details
We would like the questions and answers provided in high quality mp3 files which we will burn to CD for our customers. Each mp3 track contains a question and answer, with a 4 second pause between the question and answer. Name of track is question number e.g. 12.mp3. Note that there are five sets of questions for different modules, these are OCR-MOD1, OCR-MOD2, AQA-COMP1, AQA-COMP-2, and GCSE-AQA – these should be kept in separate folders as there are some duplicate questions.

Quality Control
If readers don’t happen to have studied the subject, then they should read through the transcript in advance, check pronunciation of any technical words online, and ask us any queries in advance. If any technical words are mispronounced we would expect them to be re-recorded at no extra charge.

We will review the completed files within 2 weeks, prior to release of payment; if there are errors or frequent/bad stumbles we would expect them to be re-recorded (a different reader would be fine for this project if the original wasn’t available for any re-recording).
