Job Description

The Happy Film takes a look at the strategies serious psychologists recommend to improve one's personal well-being and overall happiness. The questions “Is it possible to train our mind in the same way that we train our bodies?” and “Can we change our behavior to make us happier?” will be answered in this highly visual documentary. The subject of the film will conduct a series of self-experiments to see if he can successfully impact his own happiness.

Throughout the film, animations will serve as access points to a larger exploration of happiness, it's cultural significance, our constant pursuit of it, and its uniquely ephemeral nature. We are casting for a narrator who can provide a voice to several scripted elements throughout the film.

The narration will compliment beautiful, colorful animations that are thought provoking and at times humorous. To that point, we are looking for someone with strong CHARACTER, though not with a personality that is overwhelming. We are looking for an intelligent voice, while also sounding fresh.

Our ideal sound would be a voice that doesn't sound like advertising, has a gravity when he speaks which makes his words sound honest and believable, and has a natural accent and subtle flaws in his voice (i.e. someone who's not speaking perfect radio English). Think Willem Dafoe.
