Job Description

Voiceover is for short piece on child labour (6 minutes) to be shown in homes, churches and other locations as part of a promotional piece for a charity. Voiceover needs to be fairly even-paced, not too slow or too emotional. Preferably a Canadian accent.

The boy's name is pronounced "Chai-ya-poom"

Today around 8.4 million children are involved in slavery, trafficking, debt bondage and other forms of forced labour. Many come from families struggling to make ends meet, where a child is relied upon to contribute to the household income. Yet, this is often a dangerous world; children are extremely vulnerable to exploitation, they are often put in hazardous conditions with little or no protection for their health or welfare. Even worse, because they are not in school, they are unable to gain the necessary education and skills to improve their lives for the future.

This is just one of the many situations where Compassion is working, bringing hope and possibility to children whose lives are filled with hardship. Compassion releases children from the terrible cycle of poverty and gives them hope for the future, in Jesus’ name.

Chaiyaphoom is only eleven years old, yet he has already spent three years working in the fields full-time. In Thailand where he lives, children must pay fees, buy uniforms and books in order to go to school. Often it is these expenses that prevent children from getting an education. A few years ago, Chaiyaphoom was one of those children.

Committed to working with the poorest, most vulnerable children, Compassion is a preventative measure, providing children with their basic needs so that they don't need to work for a living in order to survive. Compassion also opens the door to school for many who would otherwise find themselves exploited or in forced labour. This helps them to improve their situation, gain vocational skills and find employment when they are older. Through one-to-one sponsorship and letter-writing, children develop a relationship with their sponsors; they learn that they are precious. They learn about the love of God, how valuable they are to Him and many come to know him as their Lord and Saviour.

Last year over 100,000 children became Christians through the work of Compassion.
In 24 number of countries across the world, children's lives are being transformed through the work of Compassion. You can be involved in this strategic ministry and bring light to the darkest of places. Through sponsorship you can show a child that he or she matters, is valuable to God and can know Him. You can reach out with love and hope. You may not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for one child, in Jesus' name.
