Job Description

I am the head of a company developing games for the blind and visually impaired community. The game that we are currently building is called Battle Crescendo, it is an action/strategy adventure set in medieval times. This job is for a character in the game, a blacksmith who lives and works in a town that you come to in one of the levels. He is not a very educated man, he has a brisk manner and can almost be a bit frightening at times but he is a good person at heart.

The game will not be sold in normal stores, it will only be distributed via our website at least as things look right now. We will need full buyout rights for these recordings, which is to say the right to use them for anything we like as long as they are associated with the game. There is also a great chance that audio snippets from the game will be broadcast on TV and Radio which may or may not include your recordings, but they will still be a part of the production.

The full script is below, with Gareths (the players) lines included as well so that you can get your parts in their right context. Only submit custom auditions; no generic demos please.

---Start of Script---

The blacksmith is hammering on tirelessly, hardly aware of anything that is going on around him.

Gareth (shouting to get his attention):
"Hello? Excuse me, sir, hello!"

Blacksmith (putting down his hammer and panting):
"Yes, what is it son? I'm a busy man."

If Gareth has money, the dialog continues from point A:

If Gareth doesn't have money and his health is low, the dialog continues from point B:

If Gareth doesn't have money but his health is good, the dialog continues from point C:

A:

Gareth:
"Well I'm, I'm just wondering how much you'd want for a suit of armor?"

Blacksmith (thinking about the answer):
"Oh, that really depends on what kind of quality you are looking for. But I assume you want the very best, so for everything let's make it, oh, 300 in gold?"

Gareth:
"Yeah, that sounds fair. It's a deal."

Blacksmith:
"Then I think you'll like this one, it's a new suit that I made only a few days ago. Wait, and I'll bring it out for you."

Blacksmith (picking out Gareths things and muttering half to himself):
"We need all the warriors we can get in this town, with that clubfooted maniac up in the castle thinking he owns us all."

Blacksmith (coming back):
"Here you are son, the best armor money can buy in this town. I'll be damned if you ever need to see a doctor after you've gone out in battle with this here on you."

If Gareth doesn't have a sword, the dialog continues as follows:

Blacksmith:
"Hey wait a minute, I see you don't have a sword. Kind of dangerous to walk around town without one, don't you think? Here, I'll throw a sword and shield in as part of the bargain."

B:

Gareth (sounding tired):
"Oh I won't take up much of your time, I was just wondering..."

Blacksmith (horrified, interrupts Gareth):
"Now now wait there a minute, you look absolutely dreadful! Where'd you get all those wounds? My god, you're all covered in blood! Here, have a sip of this. It always helps me when I'm hurt. I think there's some kind of magic in it, but I'm not real sure."

Gareth (drinking and swallowing):
"Oh, thank you kindly. I feel better already, I dare say. Thank you very much!"

C:

Gareth:
"Oh I just wanted to ask you if..."

Blacksmith (interrupts Gareth impatiently):
"Now look here, I have plenty of things to do and I don't have time for this small-talk stuff. Go away."
