Job Description

This is for an epic, historical first person shooter game for release on PC and XBox 360 in 3Q/4Q 2008.

This character is a ~50 yr old male. He's an intellectual inventor who created a world-changing technology and is struggling with the implications (both moral and physical) of the way it is being used.

He's a tad eccentric, but beneath his sometimes strange words weaves a profound thread of truth. He's verbose and speaks quickly, with animation, like a somewhat focused stream-of-consciousness. As way of description, some of the 'name' actors to which we've compared this role are: a tamer Christopher Lloyd (as Doc Brown), a nice Dennis Miller, an academic Robin Williams,

Although he has a relatively small part in this project, the story arc has him as a central character in the next game in the series. We will want to use the same talent for the next game.

Please quote for 1000 words, allowing for 2 additional pickup sessions at up to 250 words each and buyout licensing. Quote rates for additional pickup sessions as well (these guys like to change their minds!)

I'll accept auditions through January 15th and present the best to the development team at a benchmark meeting towards the end of January. Selected talent will be contacted in February after script tweaking and expected to deliver finished audio in one week. Pickups will take place through March, possibly April.

Talent not cast for this role will be considered for other minor characters. Only custom demos will be considered but watermarking is welcome.

Here are the lines for audition:

K: It seems we have quite a bit of company! I think I should be flattered, but fame seems to be one of those things you chase and chase and chase and then curse it when you catch it.

K: I see you’ve come up as the winner! All this fuss and fury over me… ah, it must be how those young, pretty co-eds feel, all this masculine attention. The indelible pen writes, and keeps writing. But we’ve found the cosmic correction fluid! What could happen next? Who am I to say? All I know right now is we must find that disk. Need to find it. Do you know, young man, what it is truly like to need?

K: Thankfully for us all, the volcano has called an end to my monologue. We should proceed, with haste. And I don’t think those other blokes are done with you.
