Job Description

We require a voice over artist for an upcoming course to be released online. The voice over will be put to video.

The artist must be able to make the content of the course interesting, fresh, intelligent and personable. The voice over also must be "real". We want to avoid sounding like it's reading a script from a radio ad, or commercial.

The sample script included tells a story (as an introduction).

This is to be released soon, so the voice over artist must be able to work quickly.

Please apply with your sample voice over and desired rate.

Thanks!

Please find a portion of the script below for audition purposes. Full script available in attachment.

Once upon a time there was a writer named Steve.

Steve loved writing so much, he almost felt spiritually compelled to put words on paper.

Privately, Steve wanted to just write all day, but he had to eat, so he worked at an office at the same time to pay the bills.

He would get up at 5am each morning, write as much as he could before he left for work, and then start up again when he returned home at night.

Finally, after much effort, Steve finished his first book and got it published.

The book was brilliant, and all his friends said they loved it. The problem was, it didn’t sell very well at all.

In fact, there were so many unsold copies returned to the publisher, that they started to send them directly to Steve, where they ended up in his garage gathering dust.

His local library a stocked a copy though. Sometimes Steve would visit the library just to see whether anyone had borrowed the book.

But there it was, sitting on the shelf, drowning amongst thousands of other books, just like his.

And so the years passed...

In the meantime, Steve was still writing passionately. He finished his second book and sent it off to his publisher.

This time, the publisher refused to publish his book. In fact, nobody wanted to publish it.

“What’s the deal?” he asked them. “You published my last book. I’m a proven author!”

“Steve darling” they replied. “We liked your last book, but it just didn’t sell. We can’t risk publishing any more work, unless we know it’s marketable.”

“But it’s a great book – a darn sight better than some of the popular titles out there. Surely the world will discover it one day?” said Steve.

“Sorry Steve. We wish it did, but it just doesn’t work that way,” they replied. And that was the end of the matter.

“Marketing!” Steve scoffed to himself.
