Job Description

TECHNOSAURUS EVENTS (www.technosaurusevents.com) is a new meet-up series in the Seattle area that produces highly-entertaining live events for the local Tech / Start-Up scene. Our events will have the overall feel of a television show or a game show or a theatrical event.

Though MC’d by live hosts, the productions will be heavy with animated pieces and bumpers that give the evenings their structure and format.

We are looking for a VO talent to be the ongoing “Voice of Technosaurus Events”, which will be used for the content of each monthly show in our animations. We have a total of 26 events over the year, as well as additional promotional trailers for PR, so this will eventually be a fair amount of consistent work for the right person.

We are looking for a middle-aged female British voice. A woman who is clearly an erudite woman-of-the-world, always effortlessly in control. There are two approaches we are interested in exploring:

1) The cool, distant, dispassionate, in-control female British voices always used as the voice of computers in James Bond films (“Core meltdown will precede in 10, 9, 8, 7, ….”).

2) The Orbit Gum Girl in the Orbit Gum commercials. We do NOT want the sound of youth with this approach, but like her more inflappability, optimism, jauntiness and general lilt. However, we’d like this applied to the voice and authority of a middle-aged woman.

We recognize these are two different directions. If you have one of these voices, do audition. If you have a compelling version of both, give us two takes. If you have a combination, please do audition with that as well!

This job will require your own studio, with a quality mic, signal chain, and low-noise-level environment (your audition is both for your voice and your signal chain quality), and the ability for myself to listen in via phone for direction.

Please audition using the script in the "Sample Script" box below. This is a partial script: the final script for this job will be roughly 12 – 15 lines, for a total of 10 minutes of work (including alt takes).

Please note: This audition is just for one show, our first, which occurs in October. One you get the gig, we will discuss additional ongoing sessions for the other work in the series.
