Born October 11, 1961 in Greenville, Kentucky to Lilburn and Kathryn Harper, Ray Harper began a journey that would not only garner unprecedented success, but would impact the lives of those he touched along the way...

Ray Harper, The Man, The Player, The Coach

The Man

Ray grew up in a supportive and loving family. The devotion to the family unit is something that Ray learned at an early age. He had a uniquely close relationship with his father. This relationship instilled toughness, compassion, the will to succede, and the drive to never give up. Ray and Lilburn Harper were very close as father and son.

As the family tree would grow within the Harper family, so did their love for one another...

The Player

In 1976, Ray became an Eagle when he attended Bremen High School in Bremen, Kentucky.

While playing basketball for Bremen, Ray scored three-thousand and thirty-three points as a four-year starter. He earned first-team all-state honors his senior season and was named district player of the year.

After a successful high school career, it was now time to turn his interest towards college.

With the support of his family, Harper signed with the Univerisity of Texas for coaching legend Abe Lemons.

Ray was named the Southwest Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 1981 when the Longhorns started the season ranked 5th in the nation with a perfect 14-0 record.

Ray was key to he Longhorn's success.
