Job Description

Note from IV: Talent will need to be comfortable with technical, medical and scientific terminology.

The set up is a roster of 4 voices for a weekly podcast.
One would read all the ads, one would be the show's anchor and 2 for reading the items. We will record the ads in 1 block per month and the main anchor sections in 1 block per month with tiny snippets for each show. The aim would be to get a package of material for 2 shows (The News Show and Best of the Blogs Show) in 1 block per week from each of the voices.

VOICE 1

Hello, and welcome to “Points of View” from The Scientist. “Points of View” is brought to you in association with Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development - enhancing the health of people worldwide by creating innovative pharmaceutical products.

PAUSE

VOICE 2

Points of View is the very best of The Scientist’s blogs. This week in “Points of View” covers subjects as wide and diverse as the ivory-billed woodpecker, the bitter sense of taste and the merging of art and genetics in a new exhibit in Los Angeles.

By now, you have no doubt heard that three biologists are putting into serious question the reappearance of the ivory-billed woodpecker in the southern US. See the Girl Scientist’s blog for some interesting commentary and a lengthy interview with Tim Gallagher, one of the authors of the original Science report on the find.

VOICE 4

An improved ability to distinguish the bitter taste of natural toxins in foods may have made a difference in the survival of early humans as they radiated out of Africa, according to a genetic analysis by researchers led by a group at University College London, appearing in the July 26 issue of Current Biology.
