1
Nuclear Stress Test

2
Your doctor has prescribed a nuclear stress test. This diagnostic test is used to assess the coronary arteries. The following slide presentation will familiarize you with this diagnostic test.

3
Preparation for the test

4
A nurse will call the patient 1 or 2 days prior to the day of the test to give instructions and answer any questions. It is advisable to wear sneakers or comfortable walking shoes and loose, comfortable clothing. Instructions are also available on our website at www.hunterdoncvhealth.com.

5
The day of the test

6
Our Nuclear Medicine Technologist will greet the patient, discuss the patient’s health history, reason for the test and obtain the necessary consent for the diagnostic test.

7
The patient is escorted to the laboratory where the resting portion of the test begins.

8
To prepare the patient for the radiopharmaceutical that will be injected later in the test process, a small intravenous catheter is inserted into the patient’s arm.

9
At this point the patient will return to the reception room and remain there for approximately 35 minutes.

10
The patient returns to the lab for resting images. This is done using a nuclear camera that rotates around the patient's chest, stopping to take individual pictures at different angles. During this process, the patient lies flat and remains still for approximately 15 minutes.
