Job Description

Young (early 20s), Irish, thoughtful, intense, sincere, strong, determined, intelligent.

This is a voiceover for a book trailer (like a video trailer, only for books)

I'm attaching a version of the script that includes thumbnail images of the video that will be playing during the voiceover, so you can get a feel for the atmosphere of the trailer.

When I was thirteen, I boarded a ship with forty other men.

Aye, we were dreamers, and we were fighters, all of us.

We had the blood of warriors and poets and priests running in our veins.

But those were dark days on the Emerald shores.

There was no work.

No food.

No song.

So we watched our homeland disappear in the distance, and we came across. Looking for hope. Looking for those streets of gold we’d heard about.

Since then, most of us haven’t found gold at all.

Seems to me that New York is full of the same hunger and fighting, the same orphans and empty purses.

But I think things are about to change. For me, for Mrs. Harte- the widow with the gold in her eyes, for my boss, Black Jack Kane, and even for my sister, Terese, when I find her.

We all have hearts that are wounded and weary, searching for the remnant of a dream.

But God sends us our dreams—sometimes wrapped in the cloth of heaven, sometimes in ashes and lace.

And when our dreams and our hopes draw near, the song of Erin will rise in our hearts again.
